Protik Barua is a Young Bangladeshi Founder of The Times of Hersican.

A young Bangladeshi student is taking his first major step into digital journalism with the launch of The Times of Hersican, an independent online news platform founded by Protik Barua, also known as Protik Barua Sikder.

Born on 26 August 2006 in Bangladesh, Protik is currently studying Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Premier University. Alongside his academic work, he has developed a strong interest in technology, online publishing, and international news coverage.

The newly launched publication aims to provide readers with accessible reporting on world affairs, sports, health, business, culture, travel, and emerging trends. By combining technical knowledge with a passion for media, Protik hopes to create a modern news platform that can connect audiences across different regions.

According to the founder, The Times of Hersican is intended to be the first project under a broader media identity. Additional publications, including The Hersican Mirror and The Hersican United Post, are being considered as future developments as the platform continues to grow.

Protik is the son of Priyamol and Anupama. Friends and classmates describe him as someone who enjoys exploring new ideas and balancing his studies with creative projects. Outside of academics and digital publishing, he is particularly interested in music, including listening to songs and experimenting with music creation in his free time.

The launch of The Times of Hersican highlights how university students are increasingly using digital tools to build independent media initiatives. While still early in its journey, the publication reflects a commitment to learning, innovation, and sharing stories with a global audience.

As the project develops, Protik Barua hopes to expand its reach and continue improving the platform through consistent reporting, responsible journalism, and ongoing technological innovation.
